Cannondale introduces the Compact Neo

Cannondale has teased the launch of a new eBike which has more than a casual nod to the past – think Hooligan – with a clear view of the future – urban transport for the newly active travel audience:

Small. Light. Electric. Check mark, Wingdings font, character code 252 decimal.

Folding pedals and handlebar Check mark, Wingdings font, character code 252 decimal.

Lights. Mudguards. Pannier rack Check mark, Wingdings font, character code 252 decimal.

The bike, which launches in the UK in the second half of 2023, has already launched into the US, with a spec which clearly focuses on the urban rider:

  • A battery pack which the brand states delivers a 45 miles / 75Kms range
  • Keeping the weight of the bike sub 18kg
  • Both battery and motor come from Hyena with the MRC-250, 250W motor
  • Paired with a 48T front ring and a 11-34 cassette
  • Using microSHIFT M26S Short-Cage rear derailleur and bar mounted shifter

With 20 inch wheels making the bike easy and fun to ride (and easy to store) the Compact Neo is also designed to adjust to fit a wide range of rider sizes. Equipped with Tektro Hydraulic disk brakes, there’s plenty to like about the spec.

Cannondale has a history of deliver bikes with character, and the new Compact Neo would look to be no exception. The only downside; we’ve a while to wait until the bikes makes it to the UK.
