Cycling Industry News Market Data Survey 2026 goes live
The Cycling Industry News annual Market Study has gone live with independent retailers, workshops and mobile mechanics invited to take part, which you can do right here.
This annual research effort, now in its ninth year, seeks to understand the trading patterns of the UK bicycle retail sector’s small to medium sized retail businesses, focusing on the independent sector. Subjects explored include where and with which brands retailers are investing and divesting, the trends perceived to be taking place in the market, the factors that retailers and workshops feel matter for successful business relationships with suppliers, pricing, consumer buying trends and plenty more.
The survey is split it into straightforward categories of questions:
- Retail + workshop businesses
- State of the industry
- Retail trends
- Supply chain
The data, fully anonymised, will provide unvarnished “telling it like it is” view on the industry as it currently is.
Launching the 2026 research, Cycling Industry News’ Editor Jonathon Harker said: “Once again it’s time to continue the annual CIN tradition and ask for 10 minutes of time from the retail and workshop frontlines of the UK trade. So much has changed since we first started reaching out to the trade to fill out our survey, and that’s one of the reasons why it’s still a vital project – to gauge what’s really going on in cycle retail.
“It’s the sharp end of the supply chain that gets to speak out less often, and the Cycling Industry News Market Data project continues to roll on and help redress that balance, highlighting the challenges and viewpoints of bike shops and workshops.”
When the survey closes, the anonymised data will be collated and shared with participants. Snapshots of the data will be published in Cycling Industry News Magazine and online at www.cyclingindustry.news. The full (anonymised) report will also be available to purchase to third parties.
Participation is open only to UK-based independent retailers and workshops, businesses that do not qualify will be removed from the final dataset. All data is anonymised.
