Tern Bicycles announces US$35,000 in Good Werx donations
Tern Bicycles has announced US$35,000 in donations as part of its annual giving programme, renamed Good Werx this year.
The initiative commits at least 1% of the previous year’s profits to organisations advancing positive social and environmental change. The 2025 Good Werx recipients include World Bicycle Relief.
Tern Bicycles said bicycles play a critical role in removing one of the greatest barriers people face: safe and efficient access to long-distance travel and essential cargo transport. World Bicycle Relief works to close this mobility gap by supplying durable, purpose-built bicycles that improve access to education, healthcare and economic opportunity.
Last year, Tern supported World Bicycle Relief’s Girls on the Move programme, helping schoolgirls in remote communities travel safely to school. This year, Tern is contributing to Wheels for Health, which equips community health workers with bicycles, enabling them to reach more patients each day. In countries such as Tanzania and Kenya, where clinics are widely dispersed, these bicycles directly improve access to essential healthcare.
Other recipients include Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières and World Central Kitchen.
From this year onward, Tern’s Give Back programme will officially operate under its new name, Good Werx. The change honours the memory of Thomas Loesch, founder of Swiss bicycle company Velowerk and a longtime, valued member of Tern’s product development team.
Loesch played a key role in Tern’s humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, helping navigate the complex process of delivering 60 donated Tern cargo bikes into the country. He also personally funded a significant portion of the donation, with additional support from Tern’s Swiss distributor, Amsler. Today, these bikes are used daily by families, aid workers and local service providers, serving as vital tools for mobility and resilience.
The company added that renaming the programme Good Werx ensures that Loesch’s legacy of generosity, practicality and compassion continues to guide Tern’s efforts to support positive change.
