Estarli launches bike recovery and replacement service

British brand Estarli has launched a new bike recovery and replacement service in collaboration with UK-based cycling technology company BackPedal.

The Estarli Cycle Security service offers built-in tracking technology and recovery service to customers, aiming to tackle the growing issue of eBike theft. New Estarli customers can choose to buy the cycle security package at checkout, with custom-designed trackers fitted as part of the bike build.

“Our frustration with bike crime is something we share with current and potential customers. The recent launch of our more commuter-focused ‘X-range’ of belt-driven bikes accelerated the process, and we’re glad customers can now get trackers fitted to any Estarli,” said Oliver Francis, Co-Founder of Estarli.

According to Estarli, BackPedal agents boast a recovery rate of 80% across the UK. In the future, Estarli plans to extend the service to existing customers by offering retrofitted trackers.

“Having a solution for current Estarli riders is crucial for us, and it will be coming soon. Our products are pretty future-proof because we build backward compatibility into all our models,” added Alex Francis, Co-founder of Estarli.

BackPedal has already recovered a number of Estarlis. Co-Founder James Dunn explained a pattern in most of the recoveries: “I won’t call them ‘thieves’, but the people we track down tend to hand the bike over without too much fuss. The usual response is that they bought or rented it from a ‘friend’. It’s clear they’ve never previously been confronted like this before. What we believe it highlights is that the system is working—and our thousands of successful recoveries should be acting as a deterrent against future bike theft.”
