Faraday recalls e-bikes after reports seat post can fail

US-based Faraday Bicycles has announced a recall of around 4,450 e-bikes fitted with its Porteur, Porteur S, Cortland & Cortland S seat posts, after finding that they pose a fall hazard to riders.

According to Faraday, the seat posts can break and cause riders to fall, with the company receiving nine reports of incidents involving the seat post breaking, including one minor injury.

The words ‘HL’ or ‘Zoom’ are engraved on the seat post, with the bikes sold in various colours including Classic White, British Racing Green, Tungsten, Slate Gray, Midnight Run, Stingray Blue, Seafoam and Coral.

The company is urging its customers to stop using the recalled bikes and contact Faraday for information on how to receive a free seat post replacement and free installation at a speciality bicycle retailer. Faraday said it has contacted all known purchasers directly.

Customers can call Faraday Bicycles toll-free at 888-770-7085 between 7am-6pm CT Monday through Friday, email at seatpostrecall@faradaybikes.com or online at www.faradaybikes.com or www.recallrtr.com/faradayseatpost and click on ‘Seat Post Recall’ for more information.
