Frog Bikes scoops sustainable and ethical award

Frog Bikes has come out top of the pile in Insider Media‘s Made in Wales Awards 2022 within the category badged the ‘Sustainable and Ethical Manufacturer Award’.

Having not long ago released its first sustainability report, we recently learned that the Welsh manufacturer of kid’s bikes dropped its emissions output by 10%, all while achieving a 14% larger production output. Among other improvements, Frog managed a reduction in Co2 emissions by approximately 16 tonnes just by implementing packaging alterations. Its Boxes are made from 82% recycled paper and are 100% recyclable.

Anna Drew, Head of Strategy & Sustainability at Frog Bikes, commented on the award win, stating: “We are delighted to have our sustainability work recognised by winning the Made in Wales 2022 award because reducing our emissions and working to tackle the threat of climate change has never been more important. Our whole team has been involved in delivering these results, as we’ve made improvements in product design, packaging, sourcing, and logistics and helped bike stores extend the life of second-hand Frog bikes. There is still lots to do, and we look forward to continuing this journey, helping more children enjoy a really sustainable mode of transport.”

Measuring its emissions and publishing the results, Frog says that its business was responsible for “6522 tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide or equivalent) from all our activities, versus a baseline of 7295 tonnes in 2019, saving 773 tonnes of Co2e in 2021.”
