Fulcrum launch 1285g, 26mm profile, all new Speed 25

Fulcrum have launched a brand-new lightweight wheelset, the Speed 25, which aims to also deliver aero performance, via a 26mm profile and bladed spokes, allied with comfort and usability, via a 21mm internal rim width.

Hubs come with USB ceramic bearings, guarantee to see 50% less rolling resistance, compared to standard bearings.

The brand points out that the most significant aspect of the wheel design is the difference between the symmetrical front rim and asymmetrical rear rim, which, it points out, guarantees excellent aerodynamics and extreme reactivity. Fulcrum further highlights that the asymmetrical rear profile has allowed them to create better dish angles and achieve great lateral stiffness, which is fundamental in uphill sprints.

In line with Fulcrum’s design philosophy of the perfect alignment of the nipple with the spoke, the spokes don’t touch. There are various advantages to this approach, including long-term durability, resistance, and stiffness. Critically, for a lightweight wheelset which has climbing as its primary focus, this spoke lacing also means no ‘under load’ creaks of the kind that can develop when spokes rub.

This has been made possible by using specific resins that also protect the rim.

Matching the rims with a hub designed for lightweight, aerodynamic, properties, coupled with durability, the Speed 25 provides riders with a wheelset that is fast and smooth not only uphill, but in all conditions, as well as extremely reliable over the long-term.

In the UK Fulcrum is distributed by i-ride.
