GT recalls mountain bikes over handlebar failure issue

GT Bicycles has identified a potential handlebar failure issue as part of ongoing product testing, leading to a voluntary recall of selected bikes.

Those in question are all 2017 builds and include; the Karakoram Sport, Karakoram Comp, Aggressor Expert, Aggressor Sport and the Aggressor Comp.

The manufacturer’s advice is as follows:

Step 1:

If the GT logo on the down tube is solid, proceed to Step 2. If the logo is not solid, the bicycle is not affected.

Step 2:

If the bicycle model name is listed above, proceed to Step 3. If not, the bicycle is not affected. The model name is either found on the top tube or chainstay as pictured to the right.

Step 3: gt stem

If the bicycle stem faceplate marking reads “Ø31.8 9-10N.m,” the bicycle may be affected by this recall. If it does not have this exact marking, the bicycle is not affected. The marking can be found on either the top or the bottom side of the stem, as pictured to the right.

Customers are encouraged to take affected bicycles to their local authorized dealer for a free replacement handlebar and stem.
