Hayes Performance Systems acquires Reynolds Cycling

As reported on Bicycle Retailer, global manufacturer Hayes Performance Systems has purchased Reynolds Cycling, which designs and engineers premium carbon fibre bike wheels, in a reported “billion dollar” sale.

Darren Campbell, President of Hayes Bicycle Group, said: “”Reynolds is a leader in the carbon fibre wheel market, with extensive carbon engineering expertise, company-owned manufacturing production facilities, and a premium brand innovation position.”

According to Campbell, Reynolds will continue to build its carbon hoops in China at its factory in Guangzhou. Reynolds’ top range Black Label wheels feature Industry Nine hubs and retail for $2,099. Its Trail-Rated line retails for $1,549, and its entry-level line is priced at $1,299.

The manufacturer’s other bike brands include: Hayes disc brakes, Manitou, SUNringlé, ProTaper and Wheelsmith.
