John Styles joins the CyclingIndustry.News editorial team

Long-term CyclingIndustry.News contributor John Styles is to take on an enhanced role with the title, starting from September 1st.

One of two new recruits to be appointed to work alongside new managing editor, Jonathon Harker, Styles has worked in or around much of the bicycle industry supply chain, giving him a well-rounded perspective of the opportunities and challenges facing the trade at present.

“When I heard Mark was taking a well earned sabbatical I jumped at the chance to work with the CI.N team. I’m looking to forward to helping the cycle trade keep up to date with product launches, industry hires, retail trends, key events and industry stories from around the globe,” said Styles, who will now contribute daily news content online.

Current editor Mark Sutton said of the hire: “It has been crucial for us to find recruits with a love for the subject matter, so when John’s enquiry popped up in my inbox I jumped at the chance to bring him on board. There are few in the bicycle business that can so eloquently explain the complexities of what is happening at present in the market, let alone go as far as to predict what’s likely to happen next.”

In prior roles, John has worked at Madison, Windwave and Zyro, among others. Today he is a sales agent for Orbea bikes and consultant to businesses looking to make investments in the bicycle world. To each of these roles John has brought know-how from his time earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.

“To have somebody already embedded in the day-to-day goings on of the bicycle business now among our new recruits will be a huge boost to our growing editorial team,” added Sutton.

Sutton will resume the editor’s role in summer 2019, acting as an editorial contributor and consultant in the meantime.

John is the author of smash hit articles like “The Toxification of the Bicycle Industry Supply Chain” and the two part “Forecasting the Next Ten Years of the Bicycle Trade.”
