Lightweight Brompton Electric T Line headlines all-new Electric range

The new lightweight Brompton Electric T Line has been revealed as part of the all-new Brompton Electric line.

Weighing just 11.2kg without the battery and 14.1kg with the battery, it sees electric assist come to its titanium line for the first time.

The launch comes as part of Brompton’s all-new Electric range, hand-built in London and powered by Brompton’s new proprietary e-Motiq system.

Alongside the new Electric T Line, the e-Motiq system will be rolled out across Brompton’s C Line and P Line models, having previously been used on the G Line Electric, its larger wheeled option. Released last year, the Electric G Line has been a tremendous success, we are told, far outperforming Brompton’s initial expectations. Feedback from owners and industry has been “overwhelmingly positive” for the e-Motiq e-system used on G Line, and now Brompton is bringing this technology to its full collection.

The range is one of the first electric bikes to be listed on the Bicycle Association Register of Safety-Audited E-Bike Brands, after a rigorous audit process which independently verifies safety testing and quality control policies. This means Brompton’s Electric Bike range has been accredited as a road-legal eBike range with the very highest levels of safety.

Will Carleysmith, Chief Design & Engineering Officer at Brompton, said: “The new Brompton Electric range is our answer to the evolving way we live and move. We’ve kept everything people love about Brompton – the portability, the engineering, the joy of the ride – and added the intelligence and lightness to make it easier, smarter, and even more fun. The Electric T Line in particular is a huge leap forward. It shows that it is possible to have an exceptionally light e-bike, which can stand up to the rigours of daily use, with the power of a smart system. This, alongside the rigorous safety measures that go into making Brompton’s electric bikes, is a combination that we’re excited to see our customers put to the test.”

The T Line Electric is handcrafted from titanium and carbon, with a range up to 90km. An all-new Start Assist Mode helps riders tackle steep climbs or traffic junctions with a boost designed with city traffic in mind. And in Walk Assist Mode, Walk Assist powers the motor up to 6 km/h while the rider pushes on foot, making it easier to guide the bike uphill, across station platforms or through tight spaces.

The e-Motiq System features a custom-built rear hub motor (250W motor with 24 Nm torque on CPT Line and 30 Nm on G Line – calibrated to deliver the same rider support across all Lines), torque sensor and detachable 345Wh battery.

The new e-Motiq handlebar control integrates real-time ride data, assistance settings, and lighting. Paired with the Brompton Electric App, riders gain smart range predictions and over-the-air updates. During the first 100 km of riding, the e-system starts to build a good understanding of how someone rides. Every 6 km after, it personalises even further, meaning the rider always has a realistic view of battery life and range on their bars.

Designed for door-to-door journeys, it folds in under 20 seconds and SuperRoll+ allows smoother rolling, towing and carrying, indoors or outdoors.

Batteries are independently certified to UL2849 and EN15194 standards, and each bike comes with a 3-year electric system warranty.

The new Brompton Electric range is available for pre-order across Europe from 21 October and is on general sale through selected Brompton Accredited retailers on 28  October.
