Maison du Velo turns to customer consultancy to combat trade lost online

Independent retailer Maison du Velo has taken an alternate approached to capturing the online shopper’s business having launched a consultancy service in store.

Suggested by CyclingIndustry.News at the tail end of 2016, the Reigate and Cranleigh retailer has dubbed the idea the “Size and Source” service and will charge customers a flat fee of £49.

For this charge the shop will act as consultant on the customer’s online purchase, offering a Radlabor body scan to narrow the best fit choices. This information gives the customer a pool of 28,000 frame geometries to choose from. The bike shop will assist the customer in fine tuning the purchase, ensuring that all parts are compatible and correct for the intended use.

The store will then order the agreed on bike prior to building the bike and adding on any extras.

At present the service is available in the Reigate branch with Cranleigh soon to follow.
