Megamo introduces Upon with Avinox drive system

Megamo has launched Upon, an e-road bike equipped with the Avinox motor system, integrated battery solutions and refined geometry.

The Upon features a Carbon SL frame developed specifically for e-road riding. Its geometry adopts a road-focused design with two key adaptations for electric assistance: a longer reach and a lower bottom bracket.

The longer reach provides a more stable, controlled riding position that works with the motor’s power delivery, reducing the tendency for the rider to rotate under motor torque and offering a more planted feel on climbs.

Meanwhile, the low bottom bracket maintains the familiar handling and centred riding position of a traditional road bike. Combined with 42mm tyre clearance, the bottom bracket height is carefully calibrated to provide adequate clearance while keeping the centre of gravity low.

The Upon is powered by DJI’s Avinox M2 or M2S drive unit. The Avinox M2 delivers up to 110Nm of torque, increasing to 125Nm in Boost mode, with a peak power output of 1,100W and a weight of 2.65kg.

The more powerful Avinox M2S produces 130Nm of torque, rising to 150Nm in Boost mode, with a peak output of 1,500W while weighing just 2.6kg.

Rather than delivering the immediate high-torque response required for technical trail riding, the Upon’s motor has been tuned to provide a natural ride feel in a peloton, offering assistance that amplifies the rider’s effort without creating an abrupt change in the bike’s handling characteristics.

The Upon uses the Avinox 600Wh battery in a fully integrated, fixed configuration. This allows the frame to maintain the visual and structural profile of a road bike, with no external battery housing and no compromise in tube section design. For the target rider, who predominantly charges at home between rides, a fixed battery represents no practical limitation while offering significant visual benefits.

The 600Wh battery provides a realistic range of 70–120km, depending on the assist level, terrain and rider output. This is sufficient for the majority of road riding scenarios, including sportives, long club rides and multi-hour training sessions.

The Upon is equipped with a Road Carbon Full Integrated handlebar and stem across all builds. Internal cable routing is standard. The cockpit has been developed specifically for road use, featuring a drop-bar profile, road-appropriate widths and clean visual integration with the front end of the frame.

Megamo stated that, although the e-road segment has moved from a niche to a recognised category within the cycling market, many e-road bikes have been developed as hybrid platforms, with gravel or endurance geometries adapted to accept a motor, rather than being designed from the outset for road use. Therefore, Megamo has developed an e-bike specifically designed for road riders, featuring road geometry, a road cockpit, a road tyre profile and a motor tune calibrated for sustained effort on tarmac rather than short bursts on variable terrain.
