Orbea bolsters UK distribution base with Cycle Republic partnership

Spanish cycle manufacturer, Orbea, has announced a new partnership agreement with UK-based Cycle Republic.

Cycle Republic will now offer customers a full range of Orbea bikes across its growing nationwide retail network. Cycle Republic has eight shops across London and a further 13 stores in other cities throughout the UK.

Damian Hackett, Orbea UK and Ireland Country Manager, said: “When determining our ongoing strategy for the UK market, we decided that a partnership with a strong national chain was imperative to achieving our goals. You only have to look at Cycle Republic’s Google reviews to see how highly they are regarded by their customers, and that made a big impact on our decision.”

Orbea has experienced substantial growth in the UK over the past few years, reporting a 75% turnover growth increase for this year compared to 2017.

“Orbea is growing well in every category, with road, mtb and ebike sales all contributing very positively to our performance figures,” said Hackett. “Cycle Republic represents a significant strengthening of our national distribution network, and their business plan and trajectory is very reassuring to us.”

Cycle Republic Managing Director, Peter Kimberley, commented: “We are delighted to have partnered with Orbea, a fantastic brand steeped in history that produces some of the worlds’ finest bikes. The team there have developed an incredible range for 2019 and really pushed the boundaries. We will stock a comprehensive range online and all our shops will have nearly twenty bikes in each shop including Road, MTB, Hybrid, Women’s & Kids bikes, plus the innovative Orbea Gain e-Bike which I am sure our customers will find really exciting.”

Cycle Republic offers exclusive bikes, accessories, clothing and repairs from inner-city locations, partnering with brands including: Boardman, Marin, Basso, Genesis, Colnago, Haibike, KTM, Ridgeback, Gtech, Lapierre, Gocycle, Quella, Haibike and Pendleton.
