RideUp launches UK network of cycle centres offering bike subscriptions

RideUp, the cycling subscription provider, has announced the launch of a network of 22 ‘partner’ locations – existing cycle cafes, stores and cycle workshops – offering bike subscription collection and servicing locations from the South West of England to Scottish capital, Edinburgh.

Each RideUp centre will provide personal handovers of road, gravel and ebikes and servicing by professional mechanics every 6 months, as well as refurbishing bikes to recycle back out on ‘preloved’ subscriptions. Centres will also have access to demo stock for test rides and events so local customers can try before they subscribe.

RideUp offers all inclusive monthly subscriptions including insurance and service plan from £90 per month, with minimum terms from just 6 months, so you can switch bikes with the seasons or change to the latest model when it comes out.

Unlike normal bike purchases, customers are not tied into long term finance plans and can cancel their subscription after the initial period and simply return it to their nearest RideUp centre. So no hassle selling your bike privately and no depreciation loss.

Should customers wish to purchase the bike, they can also pay the balance between what they have already paid and the bike’s retail price, with a free handover service provided by the centre.

Bike brands on offer include Basso, BH, Cooper, KTM, Orro and Reilly, giving consumers access to aspirational bikes on an inclusive monthly plan. Subscriptions start from just 6 months and all bikes come with insurance provided by Laka and servicing provided by RideUp Centres.

RideUp is the brainchild of Russ Downing (ex Team Sky and former British Champion), Ryan Owens (Olympic cycling silver medallist, Tokyo 2021) ; and Tim Hammond, ecommerce entrepreneur.

Tim Hammond, co-founder said “Bike subscriptions provide consumers with an affordable, alternative to buying that gives them flexibility on what bike they ride, and how long they ride it. With new bike models coming out every year or two, you can now change to the latest model when it comes out.”

Russ Downing, co-founder said “We’re partnering with some great centres that are superb cycling hubs with member rides and events. Great coffee too.”

“Velobarn are excited to be a RideUp centre and offer a great range of bikes on subscription from leading brands, supported by our professional mechanics. Timing is perfect for a subscription service for our customers who want access to gravel bikes for the winter and road bikes for the summer, and peace of mind with 6 and 12 month servicing built-in to the bike’s subscription price. ” Steve Smith, Velobarn.

RideUp Centres include Velobarn (Kent), Ride247 (Cirencester), Bia Hub (Berkshire), Coffee Chain (Newark), Service Course (Wilmslow), Kra:ft (Wakefield) and Trainsharp (Lewes) amongst others across the country. See map for details of your nearest RideUp Centre.
