Rutland Cycling offer free winter health check at selected stores

To help keep people riding and commuting this winter, Specialized UK owned Rutland Cycling are offering free bike health checks, at selected Rutland Cycling stores.

The service is offered as a ‘no need to book’, drop in service, where a member of the in-store team of experts will carry out a comprehensive check, highlighting any worn or damaged components which might affect customers bikes.

The service will be available at:

  • Rutland Cycling Leicester
  • Rutland Cycling Milton Keynes
  • Rutland Cycling Cambridge
  • Specialized Store Nottingham

The offer dovetails with a time of year where fitting of mudguards, and purchasing new lights, is often at the top of the cycling list, along with high visibility, waterproof, clothing.

For stores making the most of customer visits, a well merchandised, curated, package of products for the winter riders remains a key element for the trade; equally true for sports riders as for commuters. For both rider groups, drive train maintenance is the cornerstone of a pre-emptive approach to servicing, maximising component lifespan.

This also ties in with staff in-store promoting drive train cleaning and re-lubricating products, general cleaners for frame and fork, emphasizing frequent cleaning of frame and fork, to prevent paint damage and corrosion, as well as keeping a keen eye on disk brake pad wear, along with brake surfaces (particularly for rim brakes).

All in all, there is plenty to discuss with the winter rider, especially as many winter bikes are not given the same level of care and attention as the summer ride.
