Local bike dealer to play on-site service point role for Stuttgart’s 100-strong cargo bike fleet

Cargo bike and eBike manufacturer Riese & Müller has delivered 100 cargo bikes to the city of Stuttgart as part of a tender. The cargo bikes – Transporter2 65 – are intended for the city e‐cargo bike rental scheme, Stuttgarter Rössle, and are now available to users for long‐term rentals.

Maintenance of the bikes is being handled by Neue Arbeit, while local specialist dealer Ladehero Cargo-Bikes is involved as a contact person and additional service point on site. At Riese & Müller, the project is managed by the company’s own business unit, which offers special conditions and sharing concepts for the commercial use of cargo bikes.

The cargo bike rental “Stuttgarter Rössle” is aimed at Stuttgart citizens and is organized by the municipal social enterprise Neue Arbeit gGmbH. The bikes are rented on a long-term basis, with a minimum rental period of six months. The rental price depends on the financial capacity of the tenant and is 20, 30 or 55 euros per month. In addition, there is a monthly insurance premium as well as a one-time deposit, which is also income-dependent and amounts to 200 or 1,000 euros.

“We are very happy to be a part of this great project with our cargo bikes. The social rental concept with its attractive monthly rents is truly exemplary. This will give even more people the opportunity to use a high-quality cargo bike and get around in a sustainable and environmentally conscious way,” says Timo Gührer, Chief Sales Officer at Riese & Müller.

The Riese & Müller Transporter2 65 are equipped with a large loading box, double child seat, 5-point belts and an adjustable canopy. Infinitely variable hub gears and belt drive make the cargo bikes particularly robust and low-maintenance in everyday use. The lockable glove compartment, a concealed battery and anti-theft devices on the saddle and front wheel were developed by Riese & Müller specifically for sharing use, and a GPS tracker provides additional security.
