The Ard Rock appeals for donations for Swaledale Community Fund

After unforeseen torrential downpours and flash floods, the Ard Rock team announced earlier this week the event, due to take place this weekend, had to be cancelled.

Now, the organisers are appealing for donations to support and rebuild the local community, which saw damage to homes, infrastructure and livestock swept away in the floods.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to receive contributions, and for every £10 donated you will receive one entry to win the custom Santa Cruz Megatower CC built specially for Ard Rock.

With the Ard Rock bringing around 15,000 visitors to Swaledale over the weekend each year, and the boost this brings to the local economy not going unnoticed, businesses will now be dealing with losses on top of the devastation to their homes and establishments.

Every penny raised will go into a community fund to support Swaledale residents, businesses and volunteer services.

The Ard Rock team said: “We are asking for your help. Your contributions will make a huge difference to the area. The floods are slowly subsiding, but leaving behind a trail of destruction. We need your help to turn this around.

“We ask you to join us, stand together, spread the word and raise as much money as possible to show the world how much we care for the areas we love and enjoy.”

100% of Ard Rock participant entry fees are currently in the process of being refunded.
