Trail Distribution sets out with IBD focused brand portfolio

A new distributor run under the banner of Trail Distribution has been launched by Ben Thomson and Alistair Goodman, formerly a researcher at British Cycling.

The business informally and briefly came to market last year before Thomson’s bike retail business, like many others, saw an unexpected surge in trade.

“We’ve now relaunched properly, with a new name and new brands,” explains Thomson.

A trio of brands – Purple Extreme, Ciclovation and Togs – form the foundation of a portfolio that will be pitched primarily to independent bike retailers. The firm’s website already alludes to further labels in the process joining.

“We decided to say no to discount websites, as to me this looks like a horrible way to do business, and we’re not selling directly to the public directly either,” says Thomson. “We have great stock of Ciclovation and Togs with Purple Extreme arriving in hopefully two weeks.”

The distributor has apparently linked up with a handful of influencers in a bid to drum up support for sales. Shops wishing to get to grips with the product portfolio will be able to request in and out of hours Zoom demonstrations with the Trail Distribution team for the foreseeable future in the absence of physical demos.

“We’ve also been in contact with other brands that are looking to launch in the UK,” adds Thomson, alluding to a portfolio expansion in the near future.
