Vanmoof opts to bring bike workshops into its service mix
Vanmoof has announced that it will partner with a network of selected bike shops and workshops in order to service its consumer direct offering in a much more localised way.
Having joined the ranks of those brands now backed by significant cash reserves, the label has assessed its growth options and concluded that a broader service network is required as the brand services more cities globally. At the present time 34 such partners have been appointed, primarily in Germany and The Netherlands, though a few have been appointed in the UK too.
Quinten de Haas, Head of Service Operations, explains it like this: “We needed to find a way to offer our riders the convenience of having a service location nearby. By partnering with local bike workshops we were able to expand our network of service locations fast, but also benefit from the years of experience of our partners.”
The bike shops appear to have been chosen by Vanmoof based on review scores and the density of the customer base in a given area, something that a digitally equipped Vanmoof not only registers at the point of sale, but has earned kudos for in terms of its GPS tracing of thieves. In the past Vanmoof’s pledge to hunt down bike thieves has lead to the downfall of many bike thieves and even an organised crime ring.
Quinten de Haas adds: “We are thankful to team up and build a relationship with many experienced bike mechanics. By providing our partners with the training, manuals and availability to spare parts, we are quick to respond to the needs of our riders. Be it for your regular check-up or more complex repairs, our certified workshops are there to help service your VanMoof S3/X3.”
