Evans Cycles bolsters physical presence with Leicester store opening

Evans Cycles has today opened a new 11,500 square foot store in Leicester in an attempt to maintain a strong physical presence within the local community.

Whilst the lockdown in Leicester has begun to ease, the centrally-located branch is situated within an area still under strict regulations. However, as a transport provider, bike shops are listed as essential retailers on the Government’s official guidance which permits the new store to remain open during the lockdown.

The new store, located in the Haymarket Shopping Centre in Humberstone Gate, will stock over 300 bikes for customers to see in person as well as the latest products from the likes of Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Brompton and Raleigh, among others. The store features a fully-equipped workshop and Shimano Service Centre to offer mechanical assistance and quick turnarounds off the back of Evans’ 24 Hour Servicing Pledge.

Customers at the Leicester store will also have access to 0% finance, price match, free click and collect and test rides, as well as access to the retailer’s Ride to Work scheme. The branch will continue with Evans’ provision of free bike MOTs to key workers throughout the pandemic.

“It is fantastic to today announce the opening of our brand new Leicester store, replacing the old site at Upperton Road,” said Matthew Atkinson, Head of Retail at Evans Cycles. “As a predominantly bricks and mortar business, we strongly value the importance of offering our customers a face-to-face experience with our expert mechanics and sales staff – giving them an insight simply not possible online.”

The store will be ‘Covid-compliant’ with strict safety measures introduced, such as limiting the number of customers in-store and marking out two-metre zones throughout the shop floor. It is now mandatory for customers to wear a face covering within the store.

Last month, Evans opened a brand new Birmingham store which replaced the retailer’s old site at Birmingham New Street Station.
