VELOBerlin sets records to present latest trends & innovations

Last weekend, VELOBerlin presented the latest bike trends and innovations at Berlin’s former Tempelhof Airport, setting both exhibitor and visitor records.

VELOBerlin saw a diverse programme of stage presentations and workshops, bike shows, 20 bike races and thousands of test rides taking place across the 27-28 April.

20,000 visitors descended on the showcase event, while floor space was expanded by 20% to accommodate the demands of the 300 exhibitors and 500 brands presenting at the show.

Project Director, Katja Richarz, said: “Several of the major bicycle brands closely monitored VELOBerlin’s growth last year, before deciding it was the ideal location to make their presentations in 2019.”

The event showcased a wide variety of products, including: fixed-gear bikes, cargo bikes, e-bikes, low-step bikes, high-end racing bikes and more, alongside more than 20 purely children’s and youth bike brands presented in the “Testival” terrain area.

Specialized Marketing Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Sebastian Maag, said of the event: “Our debut appearance as an exhibitor at VELOBerlin was highly successful overall. We’re delighted with the many fruitful discussions, the public’s breadth of knowledge and diverse demographics, as well as the great atmosphere in the halls, on the old airport’s apron, and on the test tracks. We didn’t expect to attract such crowds.”

Operated by Messe Friedrichshafen, VELOBerlin’s total exhibition area test circuits totalled 25,000 m², as well as a 1,400 m round race circuit on the airfield.

VELOBerlin 2020 is planned to take place at Tempelhof Airport 18-19 April, which will mark the bicycle festival’s 10th anniversary.
