VOLT Bikes named National Family Business of the Year

EBike manufacturer VOLT Bikes has been named National Family Business of the Year at the HSBC UK & FSB Small Business Growth Awards 2026.

Organised by HSBC UK and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), the awards attracted nearly 3,000 entries from businesses across the UK. Winners were announced at a gala ceremony held at The Savoy in London, hosted by Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Sara Davies.

In addition to the top family business accolade, VOLT Bikes was also presented with the HSBC Customer Champion Award, recognising its commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

“These awards are particularly meaningful because they recognise the family-led values that have shaped VOLT from the very beginning,” said James Metcalfe, Co-Founder and CEO of VOLT Bikes. “This recognition reflects the dedication our team brings every day to designing and building exceptional electric bikes, while creating a business that prioritises people, sustainability and customer experience. We are incredibly proud to see those values recognised on a national stage.”

Founded in 2011, VOLT has grown from a family-run start-up into one of the UK’s leading electric bike brands. The company designs and assembles its award-winning eBikes in Buckinghamshire and has supplied more than 30,000 electric bikes to customers across the UK.

Commenting on the awards, Martin McTague OBE, National Chair of the Federation of Small Businesses, said: “These awards highlight the vital contribution that small businesses make to local communities and the wider economy. Behind every success story is an entrepreneur who has taken risks, created jobs and delivered growth – often against the odds – and that deserves to be recognised and celebrated.”
