Wanda Sports rumoured to be considering sale of Ironman for $1 billion
Wanda Sports Group is considering selling triathlon business Ironman for $1 billion, Bloomberg has reported.
Bloomberg revealed the company is working with an adviser and has held discussions with some private-equity buyers who have expressed interest in the business, according to ‘people familiar with the matter’.
The unnamed sources claim Wanda Sports is seeking to fetch around $1 billion for the triathlon business.
In October 2019, The Professional Triathletes Organisation had its offer of a buyout of the Ironman series rejected by Wanda, which stated it was, “not prepared to engage in a discussion around a sale at this point.”
Wanda bought the Ironman business in 2015, with the series including more than 170 races annually across six continents.
