Wiggle-CRC joins BA’s Leadership Group & Market Data Service

Wiggle Chain Reaction Cycles announced today that it will join the Bicycle Association’s (BA) Leadership Group and its new Market Data Service, in support of the association’s new vision of “working together as an industry to grow cycling for a cleaner, healthier Britain.”

The BA’s Market Data Service offers UK sales data covering bikes, parts, accessories, and services, allowing users to compare their own data to market and sector averages down to category, sub-category, and even SKU level in some areas. Data can also be filtered by price band, by channel, by region or retailer-type.

We have formed a Leadership Group, made up of some of the leading UK cycling retailers, brands and distributors, to help capitalise on the opportunities which lie ahead and I am delighted to welcome Wiggle in joining this group.”

Other confirmed Bicycle Association Leadership Group members include Brompton, Frog, Giant, Islabikes, Raleigh, Schwalbe, Specialized, Trek and Zyro Fisher. Halfords Group also confirmed Halfords, Tredz, Cycle Republic and Boardman Bikes’ participaction in the BA’s Market Data Service.

The service was launched in January to deliver accurate sales data to the whole sector, with the objective of providing essential insights to support the BA’s advocacy agenda with government and also to provide retailers, manufacturers and brands with invaluable insights on how to develop their business.

BA Associate Director, Simon Irons, said: “This full engagement in the market data service from Wiggle-CRC, the UK’s largest on-line cycling retailer, is another major step towards our target of achieving 70% whole market coverage in the first year of operation and will especially strengthen our insights in the parts, accessories and clothing markets.”

After soft-launching in January, the service is set to go live in April, with a target of over 70% market coverage by the end of the year. Retailers who would like to participate are invited to sign up to the Market Data Service online at https://www.bicycleassociation.org.uk/market-data.
