Key to this is said to be the local championing of family friendly cycling. The original, Hertford located, store also offers a range of Trek bicycles and eBikes as part of its cycle hire offering.

The new Bishop’s Stortford store will mimic its Hertford partner, with a wide range of services, including bike repair and maintenance, with Cytech, Bosch, and Shimano, certified mechanics, as well as an extensive range of accessories, enabling the store to support riders of all levels. Service and accessory sales will compliment a broad range of bikes, with a focus on electric, and road, as well as a selection of hybrid and mountain bike options.

Of the new store opening, owner, Adam Simmons, said: “Highway Cycles has been active in the Bishop’s Stortford community for many years, with a pop-up in Jackson Square shopping centre, showcasing our range of bicycles, also sponsoring local Birchwood High School student, William Gilbank.”

He added: “We were always amazed how keenly we were received and how much need there was from the cycling community, for a quality and customer-focused bike shop. We’ve already had many people visit us from Bishop’s Stortford, so we’ve been on the lookout for the right location since then.”

“We are really working hard to get engaged with the local cycling community, just as much as we have in Hertford, and are already working with local groups, creating a focus point with events and workshops, for cycling enthusiasts.”

Wendy Dorling, President of the Bishop’s Stortford Cycling Club, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Highway Cycles. Having a cycling store in Bishop’s Stortford, just a stone’s throw from where our club meets, will be great and, as a fair few of our members tend to have to travel further afield, when they just need something on hand, it’ll be fantastic for us, as well as the wider cycling community.”

Graham Oxborrow, Co-Convenor of Cycle Stortford, said: “Cycle Stortford is campaigning for safe and sustainable active travel routes in and around Bishop’s Stortford. We are really excited that Highway Cycles is coming to our town, as they will provide riders of all abilities with the means to enjoy cycling in the area.”
