Beryl announced as bike share operator for Bournemouth & Poole from Spring 2019

Beryl, formerly Blaze, the British urban cycling brand has announced their five-year partnership with Bournemouth and Poole local councils to deliver an innovative bike share scheme to the south coast.

Beryl’s distinctive emerald green bikes will soon be a familiar sight on the streets of Bournemouth and will be available for instant hire via the Beryl App. The App will allow users to easily find and unlock any Beryl bike using their smartphone.

The scheme will be launched in spring/summer 2019, with an initial 200 brand new bikes conveniently distributed for use at key destinations including rail and bus stations, town centre shopping areas and tourist attractions.

The gradual roll out of bikes will increase with up to 1,000 available by summer 2019. The Beryl bikes have three speed gears and a step through design, with fully adjustable handlebars and seats for a wide range of riders, from 4’11” to 6’5”.

Beryl has significant experience in providing innovative technology for bike share schemes. Their patented laserlight technology can be seen on the streets of London on the Transport for London’s Santander Cycles as well as the New York, Montreal and Glasgow scheme.

In 2018, Beryl launched two dockless bike share schemes in London for corporate clients, and is now expanding to city-wide schemes. Beryl is also accredited with Bikeplus, which is the agreed standard of Best Practice for the industry.
