Bike shop news: Balfe’s opens in Chiswick, New Forest Cycling hit for £35k fleet
Balfe’s Bikes has opened its 11th store in Chiswick at 124-126 Chiswick High Road.
Balfe’s has experienced significant growth over the last 18 months, fuelled in part by the COVID-19 cycling boom, which the shop says has driven its London customers toward bike use.
In 2020 Balfe’s opened six new stores in London and the South East, as well as moving to a new warehouse and distribution centre near Gatwick Airport which delivers stock of 30 different bike brands to the store base.
Robin Foad, Store Manager commented: “It’s great to be opening our doors in Chiswick, which has excellent cycling infrastructure, and we are excited to be able to support new and existing riders. Being able to offer great products and service is at the heart of Balfe’s Bikes, and we hope to make this new store a valued part of the local cycling community.”
New Forest Cycling hit for 17 bike fleet
Thieves have made off with 17 Cube Hybrid Pro electric bikes, each worth around £2,400, following a night time raid at the New Forest Cycling bike shop between July 26th and 27th.
In the process the thieves smashed the store vans window, before proceeding to pull off the panels of the storage building.
It is highly likely the e-Bikes may resurface as the thieves made off without either the keys or the batteries for the e-bikes. The bikes cannot be used without the aired key and so stolen units should be easy enough to identify if an attempt is made to move them on.
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting crime reference number 44210297443. Hampshire Police are investigating the theft.
