Cycle Monkey launches CoLab off shoot

Cycle Monkey has followed September’s announcement of complete bike brand off shoot Link with the news it will add another arm called CoLab Components.

Brought forward to give the firm a hand in the adventure cycling market, CoLab will initially produce carbon forks and rims for cross, plus size and fat bikes.

CoLab forks are designed to integrate with key accessories that enable self-supported adventure riding. The forks will further integrate electrical and mechanical systems, with internal wire routing for a dynamo-powered headlight and USB charger, a fork crown light mount, and a custom compression plug for ease of USB charger installation. Fender mounts are also integrated for year-round riding. All threaded components are replaceable to extend the life of the fork, enable hardware replacement and avoid damage to the fork if hardware were to be over tightened.

The first three forks to be available at $500 are: colab fork

  • Cross: 700x45mm tire with fender and 50mm without
  • Plus: 3.25” tire in 27.5 or 29” diameter
  • Fat: 26×5.25” or 27.4×4.7” tire

Rims will be offered in sizes to complement the intended use of the forks, with wide profiles to maximize tire volume for comfort and traction. All rims are tubeless ready. Cross models will have 28mm width. Plus models will have 50mm width, and Fat models will have 80mm width. Complete wheels will also be offered.

Fork pre-orders are open now, with the first production batch slated for delivery in early summer 2017. Rims are currently in transit and are expected to start shipping in April 2017.
