Cyclescheme’s Adrian Warren will be the new Cycle To Work Alliance Chair
The Cycle to Work Alliance has elected Adrian Warren as its new Chair after a unanimous vote from Members.
Warren will take over from Steve Edgell of Cycle Solutions, who has held the Chairmanship since 2010.
Warren will lead the Alliance on its continued engagement with the Department for Transport as it approaches publication of the long-awaited updated Cycle to Work Scheme guidance in early summer 2019.
The Alliance continues to promote the benefits of cycling to work in terms of its contributions to health, the environment and employee engagement, making the case for sustainable commuting.
In recent years the Cycle to Work Alliance said it has worked at safeguarding the Cycle to Work Scheme under increasing government scrutiny of salary sacrifice schemes. The Alliance has been among the parties lobbying for an increase in the scheme’s ceiling limit, to enable more e-bikes to be purchased through the scheme.
Adrian Warren, Chair of the Cycle to Work Alliance, said: “I’d like to pay tribute to the work that Steve has done in recent years to maintain the cycle to work scheme and put us in a terrific place for growth.
“Our first priority will be to work across government to successfully land the new scheme guidance this summer and ensure that all stakeholders are supportive of the benefits the new scheme will bring to employers and employees alike.
“The Cycle to Work Scheme can be central to several government agendas – health, productivity, clean air, congestion – so we will work to make sure this is a policy at the heart of government’s thinking when it comes to cycling.”
