Cytech Technical Three and eBike training available in Ireland

Ireland’s Rediscovery Centre has launched the Cytech Technical Three and Technical eBike courses at its training centre in Dublin.

The first Technical Three course will run from 23–27 March (Monday to Friday)  and the first eBike course will take place from 27–29 May (Wednesday to Friday).

The Cytech Technical Three course covers some of the most specialised and demanding skills technicians may be asked to tackle, including the multiple hydraulic and electronic systems that are becoming increasingly common on modern bikes. This includes servicing front suspension air or coil springs and damper assemblies, reassembling rear suspension units, including more complex piggy-back damper systems, and dismantling dropper seatposts for a thorough service to resolve spongy or slow action. Learners will also cover connecting to and modifying electronic shifting systems such as Di2 and AXS, as well as building specialist wheels to high tolerances, including those with straight-pull bladed spokes.

The Cytech Technical eBike course helps learners transfer their skills from mechanical to electronic systems. It covers understanding electricity and circuits, making electrical connections, battery technology, safety and risk management for eBikes, electric motors ranging from simple hub systems to complex mid-frame units, fault finding, diagnostic software and other eBike-related topics.

With that comes the need for new skills and knowledge, the need to keep your training up to date and to remain adaptable to future technologies and trends, and that’s where Cytech comes in,” said Mark Dunn, Programme Manager of Rediscover Cycling and Lead Cytech Ireland Trainer.

In 2024, the Rediscovery Centre became the exclusive provider of Cytech Accredited Bicycle Technician Training in Ireland. Cytech qualifications have been updated to reflect the latest innovations and changes in legislation and have been adapted for the Irish market for the first time.

The Rediscovery Centre has worked closely with Madison UK to fully fit out the workshop with tools from Park Tool, battery storage solutions from Asecos, parts cleaning equipment from CRC, and a range of components from leading brands such as Shimano, DT Swiss and Vittoria, giving Cytech learners a comprehensive overview of the industry.
