Dave Wiens takes over as IMBA board chairman
Having met this week for its World Summit, the International Mountain Bike Association board has elected Dave Wiens to the role of chairman.
Prior chair Robert Winston concluded his six year service, handing former pro racer and MTB Hall of Famer Wiens control.
“I’m honored and motivated to help lead IMBA into this exciting new era. Membership is at a record high and continues to grow. Because of the work being accomplished on the ground by IMBA chapters, Trails Solutions and our affiliated clubs, riding mountain bikes has never been better,” said Wiens. “The IMBA staff is stacked with smart, experienced and hardworking people who are passionate about riding bikes on trails and I’m looking forward to being a part of all that this organization can accomplish.”
Wiens currently works within the bicycle industry for Ergon and can also lay claim to having created the Mountain Sports program at Western State Colorado University. Furthermore, he is an ambassador for both the Leadville Race Series and Lifetime Fitness.
The IMBA board is now on the lookout for a new executive director having accepted the resignation of Mike Van Abel in August.
