ELyte EVO bikes, RS and EVO stag works unveiled by Whyte
Whyte has unveiled its new Elyte EVO. The bike has a low centre of gravity and lightweight chassis with Bosch’s new full-power, full-torque CX performance line CX motor.
The bike is intended for trail and enduro usage, fitted with a new Bosch performance line CX providing 600Wh and 85Hm on a 650Wh battery, with 250Wh coming from the powermore range extender. The bike starts at 20.8kg and is made of carbon-fibre with a centre of gravity of 492.28mm and front travel of 150mm and rear travel of 142mm. Two different models are available, the ELyte EVO RS and the ELyte EVO Stag Works.
The bike is designed to operate well regardless of if powermore range extender has been activated or not. The bike handles the same as it has almost no impact on the centre of gravity, leading to no impact on the ride.
Having a low centre of gravity minimises the effects of additional major masses, such as a motor and battery, on how the bike handles and rides. A low centre of gravity is more agile and easier to turn whilst also being more stable and predictable. This creates a more enjoyable ride.
‘High’ to ‘low’ settings allow the geometry to be adjusted, allowing the bike to be slackened by 0.6º and lower the bottom bracket by 8mm. A short 155mm cranks provides a low centre of gravity with the ability to pedal through the rough.
Two bottles can be attached to the bike frame, one 750ml bottle using the bottle cage adaptor, and an upper 400ml Fidlock bottle.
The ELyte EVO RS is a powerful, lightweight trail bike (category 4: Enduro) and is available in S, M, L and XL frame sizes. It is fitted with 29ers wheels and weighs 20.9kg (M) without the powermore and 22.4kg with powermore. It has a 505mm centre of gravity.
The other bike in this release is the ELyte EVO stag works which is also a lightweight trail bike. It is fitted with MX wheels, with a 29er front and 27.5in rear. The bike is 0.1kg lighter than its counterpart but has a 492mm centre of gravity.
Every ELyte EVO bike is fully weather-sealed, having a seat-clamp and sealed cable and hose ports to keep water out, with forward forward-facing charging port to prevent rear wheel spray. A yoke gaiter on the chainstay prevents sand, grit, and debris from getting behind the suspension.
A mud clearance of 2.5in between the seat and chainstay to prevent mud slowing down the ride. Frame protection on the lower downtube helps keep the bike in shape.
Whyte announces its new bikes amid a company wide refocusing on bike production instead of wider operations.
