Estarli extends Ecargo Longtail capacity to 250kg loads

Estarli has unveiled its new E-cargo Longtail 2.0, evolving its award-winning family and utility cargo bike.

The new model delivers a class-leading 250kg max. load capacity, a redesigned lower-step frame for easier everyday use, and the proven Estarli Cycle Systems mid-drive motor and Enviolo drivetrain — giving the bike exceptional hauling and climbing capability under load.

Developed from over two years of retailer and rider feedback, the Longtail 2.0 introduces a wide range of refinements aimed at making family and cargo riding simpler, more versatile and more accessible.

The launch comes soon after Estarli has developed its fleet solution for businesses and organisations.

Key upgrades include:

• Optional 820Wh long-range battery

• Improved front suspension with ring-lock compatibility
• New utility-focused accessories
• Improved stand stability

Estarli is also expanding the Longtail beyond the school run, with new collapsible pannier bags and an upcoming Utility Basket accessory designed for shopping and pets.

The Longtail’s core drivetrain remains unchanged, with the Estarli Cycle Systems mid-drive motor and Enviolo gearing system continuing to deliver smooth, intuitive performance under load. Delivering 110Nm of torque, the system continues to offer exceptional climbing and hauling capability even at maximum load capacity, the brand said. Battery flexibility is also retained, but customers now opting for the long-range version can count on 820Wh, offering even greater range for longer journeys or heavier use.

Co-founder Oliver Francis said: “The original Longtail really blasted onto the scene, and we’re incredibly proud of what it’s achieved. But we also knew it wasn’t perfect. Over the last two years, we’ve been making continuous improvements, while working towards this more significant upgrade.

“This new version is the result of feedback from hundreds of retailers as well as customers across the UK. We’ve loved hearing the stories of how people are using the bike in real life—getting out to meet them, filming with them, seeing their smiles first-hand—but also identifying areas where we could improve. We’ve taken every piece of feedback seriously. The outcome is a Longtail that’s far more accessible, more versatile, and yet still at an incredible price.”

Despite the extensive upgrades, the base build price remains under £3,000.

The Longtail 2.0 is designed and built in Estarli’s Hertfordshire factory.
