FOCUS unveils “uncompromisingly fast” IZALCO MAX

FOCUS Bikes has launched its “uncompromisingly fast” IZALCO MAX, stiffer and more aerodynamic than its predecessor.

The IZALCO MAX is available in seven sizes. In combination with the stem, which is offered in six lengths from 70 to 120 mm. FOCUS said it is easy to switch to a shorter or longer version of the stem to dial in fit – as well as adding and removing stem spacers without having to open any break lines.

There’s a higher bottom bracket in combination with the steeper head tube angle results in a more agile handling and better acceleration, the brand said. Refined NACA (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics) shapes provide a 6.6 W aero improvement compared to its forerunner.

Compared to a round tube, a NACA (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics) airfoil tube shape drastically reduces drag. FOCUS’ unique truncated NACA shape combines aerodynamic advantages with high tube stiffness and low weight.

By saving 6.6 watts at 45 km/h, it is 1 min 47 seconds faster over a distance of 45 km compared to its predecessor.

FOCUS said: “Striking the perfect balance between stiffness and comfort is the pinnacle of frame design. A pinnacle we climbed particularly for the new IZALCO MAX. We optimized the stiffness of the bottom bracket and the forks lateral stiffness as well.

“At the same time, we improved seating comfort by shortening the seat tube. How? There is added flex due to the longer seat post extension and the setback design.”
