Funked Up appoints Chris Hewings to CEO role
Ireland’s FunkedUp has appointed Chris Hewings to the role of CEO with immediate effect.
Formerly Lightweight’s UK manager, Hewings has previously held roles with Cube and Parlee, with 12 years’ experience in sales and marketing channels giving him a varied skillset.
Funked Up has a focus on ‘street style’ fixed gear bikes, each of which can be customised online prior to shipment to the customer. According to Hewings, the label now claims to be the largest Irish bike brand. Bike shops might also be about to get a look in.
“I can’t wait to get started,” said Hewings. “Funked Up is currently the largest Irish-based bike brand, and I’m looking forward to helping the existing team to expand into new markets. We’ll continue to grow sales via our website, but also help service the growing number of enquiries we’re receiving from traditional bike stores around the world. We’re well positioned to build on our recent growth in domestic markets, and make Funked Up a truly international bicycle brand”.
“We’re really excited about Chris joining the team,” said Olaf O’Moore, founder of the Funked Up. “Chris has worked with a number of market-leading brands within the bike industry, and has significant experience of not only the Irish bike market, but also the international bike market, in terms of sales, marketing and procurement. We’ve seen rapid sales growth in Ireland and the UK
recently, and are now seeing the acceptance and growth of the Funked Up brand in many export markets. Chris’s experience managing a variety of sales and marketing channels for bicycle brands around the world will be invaluable to Funked Up as we continue to expand.”
