Giant upgrades Düsseldorf flagship store with Zumtobel lighting
Giant has enhanced the shopping experience in its flagship store in Düsseldorf, Germany, by installing lights from lighting solution brand Zumtobel.
Spanning 1,250 square metres, the store showcases bikes from brands including GIANT, Liv, women’s cycling brand, and Momentum, an urban lifestyle eBikes brand. In the store, each bike is illuminated by at least two VIVO II spotlights, with one for the top view and one for the side view.
According to Marcel Hollenberg, Marketing and Retail Manager for GIANT Bicycles at GIANT Deutschland GmbH, as the bikes are finished with a penetrating coating with metallic effects and special transitions, these qualities can only become visible when light falls on the frame at different angles.
In total, the flagship store features more than 500 VIVO II spotlights, complemented by visually identical VIVO II pendant luminaires above the sales counter.
The VIVO II range encompasses products in black and white, which can help GIANT differentiate its own brands within the store. The GIANT bikes are illuminated with black spotlights and tracks, and white luminaires and tracks were chosen for the women’s brand Liv.
In addition, the indoor test track, designed to replicate an outdoor course with small cobblestones and root-like trail bumps, is well-lit to allow customers to test bikes safely. At the dedicated Infopoint, visitors can use interactive screens to check availability, sizes and financing or leasing options. The screens feature excellent glare control, ensuring all bike purchase details remain clearly visible without distracting reflections.
“Customers just have more fun shopping in-store when it looks good. The VIVO II spotlight makes it even easier to focus light on the display area and the product without scattering loss,” Hollenberg added.
