Go easy, ride electric: Cannondale launches all-new city eBike range

Cannondale has announced its entry into the eCargo bike category with the launch of 2 all-new bikes, the Cargowagen Neo and Wonderwagen Neo.

Both bikes have been designed to offer easy solutions to everyday challenges, from carrying kids to carrying the stuff of daily life. Critically, the brand sees the Cargowagen Neo and Wonderwagen Neo as sustainable, easy-to-use, alternatives to either a car, or public transport.

Both bikes feature the Bosch Cargo Line motor, with the Cargonwagen Neo 1 packing a 545Wh battery, whilst the Cargo Neo 2 comes with a 710Wh battery, with the bikes respectively featuring a Shimano Deore 10 speed or Enviolo CVT internal hub gear drivetrain.

Where the Wonderwagen Neo excels is with a 25okg load capacity, compared with the Cargonwagen Neo, which lugs a longtail standard 200kg (both figures including rider). Beyond the obvious load lugging comparison, the 2 bikes are very different tools, albeit with an overlapping use case.

The Wonderwagen Neo sets out to give kids the best seat in the house (or, on the street), with a cabin spacious enough to feature 2 comfortable seats – 30Kg, per occupant, load limit – with adjustable 5-point harnesses and headrests, and sides that wrap up high around the occupants for additional comfort and protection. When not carry little people the cabin space can also carry or up to 100kg of cargo. In addition to this, the rear rack easily fits an approved seat for a third young passenger (27Kg max).

Add in a detachable rain cover (available separately) and the Wonderwagen Neo has been fully optimized for dependable, all day, every day, any weather, riding.

In late 2022 Cannondale teased the launch of a new eBike which has more than a casual nod to the past – think Hooligan – with a clear view of the future: Urban transport for the newly active travel audience. At this time the Compact Neo remains a USA only model. For now….
