As supreme court ruling in India has seen Hero Cycles stake its claim on the ‘Hero’ branding against Hero Ecotech Limited.
The long-running debate has before hand seen a separate ruling in the lower High Court. Hero Cycles appealed the decision and has now succeeded in ownership and exclusive rights over the trademark and Hero name, with of without a suffix or prefix, in India.
The two businesses are owned by members of the same Munjal family.
In related news, Cube Bikes has launched into India via Hero Ecotech, with the market targeted due to its increasing demand for higher-end bicycles.
Distribution into the market has now begun, with the Ludhiana OEM supplier seeking a premium option to carry in the market. Premium bikes are said to be “scarce” in India, but the demand is now emerging.
CyclingIndustry.News recently sat down with Cube’s CEO to talk about international expansion, as well as the additional 75% assembly capacity the firm now possesses.
