Herrmans signs Star Union ahead of Asian market drive
Herrmans has recruited the assistance of Star Union as it sets about expanding deeper into Asian markets with electric bike components.
Headquartered in Hangzhou, China Star Union has five sales offices in the region and is the leading supplier of controllers, throttles, and displays for ebikes.
“Many of our European customers are currently off-shoring their ebike production to China,” stated Ronny Hoglund, Bicycle Business Unit Director of Herrmans. “This cooperation allows us to continue supplying our existing customers while seeking opportunities for future growth.”
Herrmans manufacturers and supplies pedelec-specific lights, grips, chainguards, and rim tape to European OEMs as well as EU-compliant reflectors.
Herrmans has also recently opened a sales office in Taichung, Taiwan to manage the Taiwan warehouse, opened in 2012.
“The Herrmans product line has a great synergy with our own range of ebike components,” noted Susan Yang, Bicycle Sales Manager at Star Union. “By representing Herrmans products in China, we provide a one-stop shop to Chinese ebike assemblers.”
Herrmans has been supplying the bicycle industry since 1959 and is the leading European manufacturer of grips, reflectors, rim tapes, lights and chain guards. The company provides components to the majority of bicycle factories in Europe.
