Hertford Cycle Hub officially opens today

Hertford Cycle Hub has officially opened today, 11th June 2019, with the aim of becoming a one-stop-shop for all things cycling locally.

The Hub is an initiative run by Active East Herts, the community sports network for the East Herts district, and East Herts Council.

It will initially be open Tuesdays from 9am until 5pm, and Sundays from 9am until 3pm, and will be fully supported and run by Highway Cycles, based in Hertford.

The Cycle Hub will be inside the pavilion on Hartham Common, adjacent to the leisure centre, and with a Cafe next door.

The Hub will operate as a small onsite cycle shop and maintenance centre, with Highway Cycles manning the Hub during opening times with a mechanic on site who will be working from a fully-equipped workshop. The workshop will offer everything from pre-ride bike checks to on-the-spot minor repairs and servicing.

The shop will also offer essential items for sale including helmets, bottles and cages, locks, energy food, pumps, repair kits and spare tubes.

The Hub will also act as a base for cycling activities, projects and rides. With the cafe next door, it will be an ideal start point for community, charity and club rides with the building itself being used as a premises offering cycle training and bike maintenance courses.

Steve Dann, Managing Director at Highway Cycles, said: “Highway Cycles are proud to be a part of this local cycling initiative, and look forward to seeing its success and growth.”
