HKT Podcast launches ‘Project Chainge’ in aid of charity

Founder of the HKT Podcast, Davi Birks, is crowdfunding to raise money to buy specially-adapted bikes to support children and adults with various difficulties and disabilities.

Birks launched ‘Project Chainge’ to support two charities: Sheffield Cycling 4 All and Mental Health Cycling.

Sheffield Cycling 4 All provides active, inclusive weekly sessions for children and adults with a range of disabilities. The charity uses adapted bikes, side by side tandems and wheelchair trikes, however funding has now come to an end and the charity is struggling to keep up with demand.

Mental Health Cycling have recently started a new initiative, using bikes to support people with mental health issues. The project provides mental health patients with time out of hospital, getting them into the fresh air and on to two wheels. Again, the charity does not have enough bikes to fulfil demand.

‘Project Chainge’ is aiming to raise around £2000 in order to buy at least one specially adapted bike and one regular step-through bike. However, if the project raises more money then a greater number of bikes and equipment can be bought.

Everyone who makes a donation will automatically go in to a prize draw to win prizes from the HKT podcast sponsors and 2018 guests, including signed merchandise from Olly Wilkins, Danny Macaskill, Jordie Lunn and Crankworx.

The Crowdfunder has already raised £352, 17% of its £2000 target.
