Hope launches Pro 5 Hook Flange hub for Berd fibre spokes

Hope Technology has expanded its Pro 5 hub range with the launch of a Hook Flange version designed for use with Berd’s ultralight fibre spokes.

Developed to complement Berd’s high-strength textile spokes, the Pro 5 Hook Flange hub combines Hope’s precision-machined aluminium hub shell with a bespoke spoke interface engineered to suit Berd’s looped spoke construction. The result is a hub aimed at riders looking for reduced system weight without sacrificing durability or stiffness.

At the core of the new design is a redesigned flange geometry, providing the precise spacing, spoke angle and seating profile required by Berd spokes. The hook flange interface has been developed under official licence from Berd. Both companies tested the product together to ensure secure spoke retention, consistent tension and long-term durability.

Hope said the system is suitable for both aggressive trail use and high-mileage gravel riding, where strength, fatigue resistance and reliability are critical.

The Berd Edition Pro 5 hub brings together textile spoke technology and Hope’s reputation for reliability and serviceability. According to Hope, the combination delivers a wheel build that is lighter and more responsive, while retaining the robustness riders expect from its hubs.

The hub shell is machined from a single forged 2014-T6 aluminium billet and runs on sealed stainless steel cartridge bearings throughout. As with other Pro 5 hubs, multiple conversion kits are available to support different axle and freehub standards.

The Pro 5 Hook Flange hub is aimed at premium custom wheel builds, with applications including XC, downcountry, trail and gravel.

Front hub options include 100mm (24-hole) and 110mm (28-hole), while rear options cover 135/142mm (24-hole) and 148mm (28-hole). The hub is available with Ø12mm and Ø15mm axles, features a Centrelock disc interface, and supports XD, XDR, Shimano Microspline and Shimano 11-speed freehub bodies.

The Hope Pro 5 Hook Flange hub for Berd spokes will be available through Hope dealers from 1 February.
