Independents urged to register for Local Bike Shop day

The directory of those bike shops putting on events for the October 6th Local Bike Shop Day is now live.

Inviting shops to register, founder Daniel Jones (otherwise known as the man behind Random Adventure) told CI.N: “The biggest reason to sign up is so we have numbers to show distributors and press; this hopefully means it’ll become a self fulfilling prophecy and we can really make a go of profile raising the IBD. This is a chance for bike shops to demonstrate what they excel at and what’s unique about their service. If successful, the potential for new footfall is great.”

Around 80 shops have thus signed up to the celebration of independent bike retail. One such business is Green Jersey who are to host a Ridley demo day for its customers, followed by a raffle for a cycling trip to Majorca trip and live music.

Inspired by Record Store Day and created in a bid to drive footfall back into independent stores, Local Bike Shop day events can be all of the store’s own making. Ideas thus far include hosting barbeques, family friendly and competitive races, bikefitting demonstrations and a plethora of other experiential events.

You can register your business here. Local Bike Shop Day also has a Facebook page and event page here with all the latest updates.
