Intradrive secures £530,000 to accelerate production of GD8 gearbox powertrain

Intradrive, the UK-based eBike component developer, has secured £530k towards an extended £750k seed round. The original plan was to raise £300k in 2025 and a further £250k in 2026. However, investor demand led the company to combine the two into a single, oversubscribed round. The new capital will support the transition from pilot units to commercial production of its GD8 integrated gearbox powertrain, aimed at premium e-MTB and e-cargo platforms.

The GD8 combines an eight-speed gearbox with a compact mid-drive motor in a single sealed unit, offering a durable, low-maintenance alternative to conventional motor and derailleur systems, said the brand. Designed for demanding real-world use, the system is engineered for longevity and serviceability, attributes increasingly valued by cargo bike and mountain bike OEMs.

Founded by mechanical engineer and keen cyclist Mark Ravilious, Intradrive has spent eight years taking the GD8 from concept to production-ready architecture in Scotland. In 2022, Peter Slotwinski joined as both investor and co-founder, strengthening the company’s commercial capability as the project moved toward manufacturing readiness. Today, the business is run by a small team of avid cyclists delivering a highly technical product, with a strong focus on making durable products that remain in service for longer.

The current raise will expand Intradrive’s assembly capacity in Scotland, complete CE and EN certification and support OEM integrations. Several partner brands are now testing pilot production units in demanding off-road conditions, alongside Intradrive’s in-house endurance test programme.

With validated tooling and a UK and European supply chain in place, the company will deliver its first production batch of GD8 drive units to launch partners in Q4 2026.

Intradrive is continuing to invite private investors who share its long-term vision for durable, repairable e-mobility technology to get in touch as the company approaches commercial production. [email protected]
