MET launches Parachute MCR 2 convertible full-face helmet

MET has launched the Parachute MCR 2, a convertible full-face helmet designed for eMTB riders, with a focus on impact protection, ventilation and versatility.

Developed under the company’s “Safety is Science” approach, the helmet underwent extensive testing, with MET conducting and analysing 823 impacts during development. It is certified to a, a standard designed for higher impact velocities than conventional mountain bike helmet protection. According to MET, the helmet offers a 21% increase in impact-tested speed, 43% greater energy dissipation and 10% more certified coverage compared with standard MTB protection.

The Parachute MCR 2 features an in-mould polycarbonate shell, an EPS liner and full-wrap construction to enhance durability. It also incorporates the Mips® Air Node Pro rotational management system and MET’s MCR Magnetic Chinbar Release system, which allows riders to switch between full-face protection and an open-face configuration. The magnetic release mechanism is designed to improve ease of use, including when wearing gloves.

The helmet’s construction is engineered to reduce the risk of concussion at both high and low speeds. Ventilation has also been improved by 25%, with 24 vents and optimised internal channelling to promote airflow.

Other features include a flexible, adjustable visor that allows goggle storage, a safety-release mechanism designed to detach the visor in the event of a crash, integrated sunglasses ports and an internal shape designed to provide a comfortable, secure fit.

Weighing 730g in size M in full-face mode, the Parachute MCR 2 is available in sizes S (52–56cm), M (56–58cm) and L (58–61cm). In addition to NTA 8776 certification, it meets ASTM 1952-15/2032-15 standards and carries CE, US and AS-NZ certifications.
