nextbike lands biggest public bike share scheme in Poland, Metrobike

Poland’s newly launched Metrobike will be the largest bike share scheme in the country, featuring 7,000 bikes from nextbike in 31 cities in the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Region GZM.

Opening last weekend, Metrobike will be fully established by summer 2024, with two further expansions tabled to hit that target. So far, 1,860 nextbikes can be rented at 267 stations in eight cities.

Metrobike is wisely being fully integrated into the established local public transport. The comprehensive, supra-regional bike sharing network being implemented in the metropolitan region has been designed to enrich the mobility of residents and visitors alike. That public transport integration means that people with a day pass also benefit alongside those with a public transport subscription. Everyone can use Metrobike free of charge for 60 minutes per day for each day their ticket is valid. MaaS integration into the GZM app is also planned for Metrobike.

TIER-owned nextbike is forging an ever more international reputation, now being found in more than 18 countries in over 300 locations. Integrating pedal bikes, eBikes and cargo bikes with public transport, nextbike is a brand of TIER Mobility SE, among Europe’s leading shared micromobility providers. TIER also owns formerly Ford-owned shared electric bike and scooter operator, Spin.
