Online bike seller bikesdirect365.com enters liquidation

Coming hot on the heels of the winding up of Bikes 2U Direct, a similarly bike stock heavy business – BikesDirect365.com – has entered voluntary liquidation.

The two businesses had in common a specialism in trying to cater for each and every category and as such both had a high level of bike stock.

BikesDirect365.com – a family-run firm started in 2009 – differed slightly in that it offered its own directly sourced bicycle products under the Tribe, Paragon, Mizani, Kingston, Indigo, Feral and RAD banners.

BikesDirect365.com specialised in both depth of range and fast order turnaround, with same day dispatch on many orders and a claimed 96% landing of deliveries inside 48 hours.

Outside of the house brands, the firm was a stockist for Raleigh, Diamondback, Claud Butler, Bobbin, Forme, Massi and Haro, among other out of house labels. The website is now clear of stock under all categories.

The closures come on the back of a steady decline in the number of bikes imported into the UK and a general trend among bike retailers to downsize their stock holding of bikes in favour of more profitable of focused use of floor space.

There are also notable signs that online retail specialists is similarly struggling in a climate where closure of retail businesses are running at a high.
