Online marketplace created to support IBDs appoints trade veteran Guy Mansell

BikeZaar, a soon to launch online marketplace designed to help independent retailers reach customers, has appointed industry veteran Guy Mansell to the role of Head of Brand and Retail Partnerships.

Following a number of years working within the independent bike trade, Guy is experienced in the distribution space having worked with Merida, and Yellow Limited, supporting brands including Pinarello, Assos, Rudy Project, Giordana, and Corima.

On his appointment, Guy commented: “I am delighted to join BikeZaar. This is the start of an exciting journey as we look to reverse the trend that has seen independent bike shops lose business to the big online companies and expanding corporates. We have dozens of shops already signed up to the network; there is no cost or risk to them to join so it’s a no-brainer.”

Kevin Griffiths, CEO of BikeZaar, said: “We are delighted to welcome Guy to the team. Guy understands first-hand the challenges faced by independent bike shops and very quickly saw BikeZaar as an opportunity to support them. He knows the market, understands the product and will play a key role communicating the message and the benefits to the stores and brands.”

Set to launch in the coming weeks, BikeZaar’s marketplace is designed to help local IBDs expand awareness and customer reach, drive new incremental sales, and benefit from cost efficiencies.

Having already sponsored ‘Britain’s Best Bike Shop 2017’ campaign with Cycling Weekly, the online marketplace has begun profile raising to ensure dealer’s involvement is rewarded with steady consumer traffic.

Independent retailers and brands keen to learn more are invited to contact Guy directly here.
