Orbea growth continues. Annual meeting reports 1000 + employees

On the 6th of May Orbea held its annual general assembly, with the business highlighting that it has doubled the structure of its workforce in 3 years, and is now fast-tracking the recruitment of international talent.

With a workforce now totalling over 1,000 employees, 80% of whom are in posts created in the Basque Country, it was noted that the business has continued to generate employment with the aim of consolidating the company.

The business had previously set the goal of becoming sufficiently large to be a key player internationally, with a standout proposal for the market and the aim of being one of the most sought-after brands by cyclists worldwide.

In making the announcement the Basque business stated, “As of today we have reached those goals, while remaining loyal to our corporate identity and values as a manufacturer. We have done so from the Basque Country and thanks to the whole organisation coming together to work in pursuit of a clear, exciting and challenging vision.”

This is to be occupied by Gonzalo García de Salazar, former Global Sales Director. As he transitions into his new role, he will assist in the development of sales operations and strategies that Orbea needs to assure its position in each market.

“We are moving into a very exciting stage: as we continue to move forward in our various markets, we will also be further enriching our value proposal for the cycling community and for our dealers, with the aim of continuing to be a benchmark for the society in which we operate”, explains Gonzalo García de Salazar.

Ongoing growth. Future investment.

For the seventh year running the cooperative has confirmed notable sales growth, achieving a turnover of €400 million, with 85% on export markets. The result, after taxes, is 20% up on 2021, which has strongly boosted its equity.

This equity will allow it to face with assurance all the projects that the company has in the pipeline to continue strengthening its hold on the market. It will carry on investing in expanding its manufacturing and logistics capacities, in developing state-of-the-art technological solutions, along with building the skills of the people who are part of the brand.

Nearly 20% of the result was allocated to the different social action and solidarity funds that cooperative has established.

In a pre annual general assembly announcement the brand commented, “Nowadays, the true value of a brand is in the people who make it up. Having a motivated team brings us closer to our goals. No matter how good a company’s products or services may be, without a team of people behind them with a strong focus on the project, it would be more difficult to achieve our goals.”

“At Orbea we are fortunate. We know that the people who work here are the foundation on which the reputation of our cooperative is built. Professionals who not only represent the values of our brand, but also put them into practice 365 days a year.”
